ME!
I'm First Aid/CPR certified in children, infants, and adults.
I have my own car, and a North Carolina drivers license.
(You would think that was a given, haha but lots of people ask!)
I'm extremely outgoing and my friends call me Gabby!
(and yes, I'm very talkative :) haha)
I'm SUPER organized and a bit of a neat freak but that has honestly NEVER been complained about. I'm also good at multi-tasking but in an efficient manner.
I absolutely love children and animals. Big dogs are my favorite.
My hobbies include:
TRAVELING (My favorite places so far that I've been is Costa Rica & London!), going to the beach, working out/going running, and leisurely reading(hard during college but I try!).
This is a picture of me in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
If you ever venture down to Costa Rica be sure to check it out, it's magical!
I love sports and could watch them all day long! I'm a huge Carolina fan, and in 2008 I went to the ACC and NCAA basketball tournaments in Charlotte and had the time of my life!
A couple things about me...
I love fruits & veggies! I don't eat fast food.
I don't smoke and never have.
I enjoy swimming and feel comfortable working with kids in the pool.
I'm willing to do a drug test and/or background check, whichever.
I did a background check through the Cape Fear Volunteer Center.
I volunteer with the Big Buddy Program.
My "Little Buddy" is 8 and he is awesome!
We really enjoy going bowling!
Left: Day trip to Myrtle Beach!
Right: Getting ready to leave Port City Java, it's our reading spot ;) He gets hot chocolate & I get coffee!
We love to do fun things!
For example... go to the Serpentarium!!
but also sometimes just hang out, do homework and read AR books.
Where I started :)
I have two younger sisters that are now 15(twins),
named Brooke and Blair.
I practically helped raise them
(those of you that have younger siblings understand haha)!
Brooke was excited and telling my mother I was in her bed. :)
She is autistic having epilepsy and cerebral palsy. At this time she has the mind of a 2 year old.
She is my heart.
This is Blair, and she has ADHD so I have TONS of patience.
Previous Work:
I worked at The Dockside Restaurant for 4 1/2 years and as most of you know it is hectic in there, but it really taught me a lot. You have to deal with customers, and get them everything they want in the time they want it. So having good time management skills and multitasking is NOT an option.
Even while I worked at Dockside I continued to find other odd jobs on the side to keep me busy, because for some reason 40 hours wasn't enough. I like to stay busy, busy, busy! :)
For example:
-Organizing files for Mr. Hugh MacRae at The Oleander Company
-Office & Clerical work at a Merle Norman Cosmetics store
-Misc. dog sitting and house cleaning(I love organizing!)
...and also babysat for numerous families.
I was trying to make changes in my life cause everything seemed to be a routine, so I made the decision to take on the title of "nanny/babysitter" full time haha.
Current
The past 3 1/2 years I've been a nanny for a family of 4 children.
Picture below is the youngest 3! One had not gotten off the bus yet!
The ages of this family is: 5, 8, 12, 15(oldest is missing from pic)
I routinely go on field trips with the kids and volunteer in their
classrooms to read or days they have parties. It's always fun!
I worked for them 12-8 during the week. I'd have the youngest starting at 12 and we would go and do different things around town, the park, go to lunch, beach, pool and prepare for school by learning alphabet/counting/write our name/spell name/phone numbers/etc and then at 3 the 3 older kids would start arriving off the bus... then we'd work on homework/projects/whatever else they had to do that afternoon so that the parent's wouldn't have to whenever they got home. They all participated in a sport... Oldest had gymnastics, dance, and dance team, the 12 year old had softball, basketball, and track... and you get the picture... I was their transportation to and from their activities and whenever we got home early enough I'd start dinner/baths so when the parents got home they were able to spend time with their kids instead of drilling them with baths and homework.
...and another amazing family of 3 children
(twin 2 year olds and a 5 year old)
outing to the mall with the twins :)
and with the 5 year old. :)
"nanny-type" positions:
errands(dry cleaning/grocery store/Xmas/Bdays)
laundry(wash, fold, put away, organize drawers/closets)
dishes, honestly not a fan of floors haha... don't know what it is
taking kids to practice(etc), tutoring(projects/reading AR etc)
below is an extra credit project I did for my Spanish class haha :)
pet/house sitting when you're out of town... I LOVE animals!!!
staying overnight/for a duration of time, traveling with the family.
I have a passport already so, not a problem there!
Honestly... I'll help you in any way I can to complete any task.
and I hope we can work something out!!
